For Schools and Districts

From Regulation to Readiness

Build the student capacity, educator practice, and learning conditions that make engagement and instruction more accessible.

Exhale To Excel is a system-level Emotional Literacy, Regulation & Academic Readiness Framework for grades 3–12. We help schools develop the internal and relational capacities beneath behavior so students can recognize what is happening within them, respond to stress, communicate their needs, navigate relationships, and return to intentional action.

Built for School Priorities

Strengthening the Conditions Students Need to Learn

Academic readiness, engagement, behavior, attendance, school climate, and educator capacity are interconnected. Exhale To Excel strengthens the internal, relational, and instructional conditions beneath them.

01

Academic Readiness

Strengthens the regulation, attention, communication, and persistence students need to access instruction and remain engaged in learning.

02

School Climate

Builds shared language, relational awareness, belonging, and more constructive ways of navigating stress and conflict.

03

MTSS

Supports universal Tier I skill development, with options for targeted Tier II regulation and relational support.

04

Attendance & Engagement

Strengthens connection, participation, classroom engagement, and students’ capacity to return to learning after stress or disruption.

05

Behavior Support

Develops the capacities beneath visible behavior instead of relying only on correction, consequence, or compliance.

06

Trauma-Responsive Practice

Promotes choice, predictability, co-regulation, relational safety, and adult responses designed to reduce unnecessary escalation.

07

Educator Capacity

Equips educators with practical tools for co-regulation, classroom response, shared implementation, and sustainable practice.

Regulation is not one more initiative competing for time. It is a capacity that supports the priorities schools are already responsible for advancing.

A Connected System of Support

More Than a Student Program

Sustainable regulation practices require more than isolated lessons. Exhale To Excel connects student learning, educator development, practical tools, and implementation support.

01

Student ELR Curriculum

Developmentally responsive instruction builds emotional literacy, body awareness, regulation capacity, relational skills, agency, and intentional decision-making.

02

Educator Capacity

Professional learning equips educators to recognize regulation needs, respond without unnecessary escalation, model regulation, and reinforce shared practices.

03

Practical Regulation Tools

Repeatable breath, body-based, reflective, communication, and decision-making practices support movement from activation toward intentional response.

04

School Partnership & Implementation

Planning, facilitation, staff learning, implementation guidance, measurement priorities, and school-system integration support sustainable practice.

Regulation Supports Access

Helping Students Become More Available for Learning

Exhale To Excel does not replace academic instruction. It strengthens students’ capacity to access it.

Stress responses, unmet needs, sensory experiences, emotions, and relationship dynamics can influence attention, communication, persistence, and decision-making. When students can recognize what is happening within them, use an appropriate strategy, communicate their needs, and return to intentional action, they are better positioned to participate in learning.

  • Selecting a regulation strategy during a challenging task
  • Communicating a need without abandoning instruction
  • Recovering after frustration, correction, or conflict
  • Returning attention to an individual or group activity
  • Pausing before making a decision that affects learning or relationships

One Framework · Multiple Levels of Support

Designed to Complement Existing School Systems

Partnership scope is shaped by local priorities, student needs, available data, and implementation capacity.

Tier I

Universal Capacity Development

Schoolwide or classroom-based ELR instruction, shared language, regulation practices, and educator modeling support foundational skill development for all participating students.

Tier II

Targeted Regulation Support

Small-group experiences can address escalation and recovery, shutdown, transitions, conflict, grief and loss, relational safety, and identified regulation needs.

Tier 3

Intensive Regulation Support

For students who need more than targeted group intervention, individualized or very small-group tracks provide somatic, body-based regulation and re-engagement support.

Adult Capacity

Consistent Support Around Students

Professional learning and implementation support strengthen co-regulation, classroom response, modeling, and consistency across student environments.

Continuous Improvement

Learning From Implementation

Schools can examine participation, implementation fidelity, student capacity, educator confidence, classroom reinforcement, and agreed school indicators.

Scope clarification: Exhale to Excel provides educational, somatic, and capacity-building support across Tiers 1–3. Services use breath, movement, sensory awareness, co-regulation, and explicit skill instruction. They are not psychotherapy, diagnosis, clinical treatment, or crisis intervention and do not replace care from licensed providers.
